Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, Dhaka (JBFH) is one of the most renowned hospitals of Bangladesh. This name is a reflection of the knowledge, skills, liaisons and friendship shared between Bangladesh and Japan.

Founded in 1994 by Prof. Dr. Sarder A. Nayeem, the pioneer of laparoscopic surgery in Bangladesh and Prof. Jonaid Shafiq, pioneering pain medicine specialist, it has stood as a centre of excellence for almost three decades. With a wide range of super-specialty consultants, the hospital consistently serves the ever-increasing medical needs of the population.

Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital is known for it's long term collaboration with the Down Syndrome Society of Bangladesh and Geriatric Welfare Association (and more).

Japan Bangladesh Friendship Medical Services Ltd. encompasses several reputed Nursing Colleges around Dhaka and upcoming mega projects, Japan Bangladesh Friendship Retirement Homes and Geriatric Hospital in the rapidly developing Purbachal area of the city.

It is with the all the above that Japan Bangladesh Friendship Medical Services Ltd. aims to contribute positively to the improvement of the healthcare system throughout the entire country for years to come.


Our History


Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital (JBFH) is the result of an initiative to bring minimal access surgery known as laparoscopic surgery to Bangladesh. This initiative was taken by Prof. Dr. Sarder A. Nayeem who was part of the pioneering team of laparoscopic surgeons in Tokyo, Japan in 1987. The first laparoscopic surgery in Bangladesh was carried out by Prof. Dr. Sarder A. Nayeem and his team in December 1990. Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital was founded by Prof. Dr. Sarder A. Nayeem, Prof. Dr. Jonaid Shafiq, and Dr. Faisal Muazzam in collaboration with Dr. Shigeru Suganami of Japan in 8th April, 1994.

2006

Shifted to Current Location

2006: Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital (JBFH) premises shifted to Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

Australia Bangladesh Comprehensive Cancer Centre established in JBFH.
